INGREDIENTS

1 package puff pastry

1 cup grated parmesan

2 tablespoons melted butter, slightly chilled

2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

2 tablespoons thyme, finely chopped

2 teaspoons paprika

A few pinches of cayenne pepper, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • With a rolling pin, roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch (3mm) thick. It should form a rectangle, roughly 18 x 12-inches (46 x 30 cm).
  • Cut puff pastry evenly into two rectangles.
  • Brush rectangles generously with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle parmesan, garlic, thyme, and spices onto one of rectangles. Season with salt and pepper. Cover with the second rectangle (buttered side down) pressing to seal together.
  • Cut puff pastry into strips about ½-inch wide (3 cm), and transfer to baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Twist strips to form a spiral, pressing ends of strips into parchment paper to keep them in place.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until straws are golden and crispy.
